Available in Polished Stainless or Brushed Stainless, and with Round Clamps or Square Clamps. If they are not in stock, then there is a two week lead time for manufacture.
The post is made from 1 1/2" Schedule 40 Stainless Steel. This means that the posts are about 1 7/8" outside diameter and the tube walls are thick; almost 3/16" thick.

The Base Plate is not an insert as in other posts, which are not even any cheaper. These base plates are welded on the top and the bottom. The Flange is not wrought iron as are other posts. This base plate is solid stainless steel. It is 3/8" thick. Thicker than other posts which have wrought iron flanges. This base plate is 4 5/8" diameter; bigger than other posts.

We have tried buying the parts separately and making our own posts. The problems here are that it's hard to get the holes to line up exactly, or at all. The post material is thin and we have to use rivet nuts which is an added bit of trouble and source of error. The flange is wrought iron and rusts. Everything is glued together and not welded. The price for the materials was about $230 per post plus shipping. There are scratches on the thin walled posts, which can be removed by hand with sand paper.

These posts are nearly perfect and much heavier duty. Thick walled and all stainless. How can you not get excited about these posts? Are you dead?

We've tried glass clamps from China, but these brackets are superior in many ways and they are about the same price. We call these Z-Brackets and we sell them separately here.

The brackets have a removable pin so that the glass can have a hole with a pin through it or not. Your choice. The glass won't slip without the pin, unless there is something special about the glass, like it's not glass, or it has a coating on it, or it's too thin. Silicone works too.

These posts have brackets for 1/2" glass. You can't exchange the brackets for 3/8 or 1/4" glass. 1/2" is about 10% more than 3/8" (from us.) And 1/2" is perhaps twice as strong as 3/8". Here's our company photo. We're standing on 3/8" glass.

Technically speaking, these posts are not adequate as is for railings on decks with more than a 30" drop off unless you attach a hand rail. The building code which came into effect in Jan 08 seems to say that all post must be 42" and have a hand rail. But it also seems that no one really knows for sure. Check with your building inspector.

You can add a hand rail easily with an HR25PBS. Other handrail brackets run $160. This one is $59.

You can NOT install a surface mount flange on top of tile.
We can get custom made posts with a saddle for a hand rail on top. But, the code seems to require 42" posts and 32 to 36" high (verify for god's sake) hand rails so the best solution is the bracket mentioned above.
